A pleasant stroll takes you right along Lungarno Simonelli to the Arsenali Medicei and the Museo delle Navi Antiche di Pisa. Occupying a 16th-century Medici storehouse along the Arno, the museum displays 12 Roman ships, which were discovered and excavated when digging to extend the Pisa-San Rossore railway station in 1988. At least one of the ships dates back to the first century BC. Many of the their contents are also on display, including clay vases, skeletons and even vials containing wine and olives some 20 centuries old. From the top of the nearby Torre Guelfa, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city.
