Where better to learn about Venice’s centuries-old tradition of mask-making than from the maschereri (mask-makers) themselves. Tragicomica has been crafting traditional Venetian masks, Commedia dell’Arte masks and various decorative masks for years and their master artisans offer courses that give participants the chance to try their hand at the craft. If you’re planning a visit during Carnival and need a costume, they have a handsome selection of costumes (for sale and rent) and masks appropriate for even Venice’s most fashionable balls.
