The Andros Lighthouse was built in 1892 to mark the southern entrance to the Fresh Creek Channel. In 1952, three old cannons were added in front of the Lighthouse and a tower built on the top. The cannons came from the Cottsac schooner, which wrecked on Stanyard Rock in the 1800s.

This is New Providence Island’s zoological garden. Privately owned, the zoo and tropical gardens are home to a variety of birds and animals, many of them endangered species. You can wander the tiny pathways through the lush tropical undergrowth, where you’ll see the endangered Bahamian parrot, jaguar, assorted monkeys and sloths, raccoons and other nocturnal animals.I’ve visited this unique animal park on a number of occasions, and it never fails to delight and entertain.

Atlantis Marina Village

Marina Village
Nassau, Nassau & New Providence

Market/Bazaar

The latest addition to the Atlantis complex is Marina Village, a cross between a tropical village and bustling resort harbor. It’s rapidly becoming THE place to shop and dine in and around Nassau. As shopping centers go, it is perhaps one of the prettiest spots on Paradise Island, not to mention Nassau itself. Gifts, trinkets, jewelry, specialty confections, swimwear and locally-made crafts are sold side-by-side with the likes of
Versace, Hermes and Ferragamo.
