For an overnight in sleepy Naranjo (which is not as much a town as a ferry dock), a good choice is the Oasis del Pacifico (tennis, pools, fishing, restaurant). The enchanting Oasis is set on the beach with a sprawling 4.9-hectare/12-acre garden. The simple rooms here have porches with hammocks for lazy living, and the convivial host, Aggie Wilhelm, serves some tasty international dishes as well as Tico food (we had mouth-watering curry!). Ms. Wilhelm is originally from Singapore where her husband was a working seaman. An authentic oasis of the Pacific.
