On the road toward the Pacific is the rural town of Atenas. It sits at a higher altitude and is said to have the “best climate” in all of Costa Rica, maybe even el mundo, by National Geographic magazine. If you want to stay here, try the Colinas del Sol, with a great pool on a sunny hillside.
