In the heart of the St-Georges neighborhood is the Musée de la Vie Romantique, a charming house covered in ivy and set back from the street, surrounded by a cottage-style garden. It was once home to painter Ary Scheffer, who entertained friends such as George Sand, Chopin, Delacroix, Liszt and Ingres. Most enjoyable is the tearoom overlooking the gardens, run by Cakes de Bertrand, with tea and cakes, savory tarts, and Sunday brunch. On sunny spring mornings when no one else is around, it feels like your own private piece of paradise.
