Centre de Préhistoire de Pech Merle features artwork of early man, including paintings and engravings dating back more than 20,000 years. There are good examples of horses, bison, mammoths and human figures.

The center is open daily April 4 through November 1 from 9 am to noon and 1:30 to 5 pm. There is a cap on the number of visitors at 700 daily, so it is important to call ahead for a reservation or book online especially in the peak summer season. Entry costs € 7 for adults and € 4.50 for children.
