As befits a German state capital, Stuttgart has a huge range of cultural offerings. The Staatsoper Stuttgart is a frequent winner of the German Opera House of the Year award. The Staatsorchester (National Orchestra), Staatsopernchor (State Opera Choir), and the Stuttgarter Ballet are frequent winners of domestic and international awards. The Schauspielhaus Staatstheater (State Theater) rounds off the Stuttgart high culture scene with plays in German. Prices range from Euro 20 to Euro 30 in the State Theater, and Euro 60 to Euro 110 in the Opera. More modern music is the center of attention at the ECLAT Festival of New Music, held annually in February. Variety shows and musicals are performed almost daily.
