The best-known building in Munich is the Hofbräuhaus. Its best features are also its worst –the international fame and popularity of the place. It can be packed at night with international visitors, and barely a local in sight. Many seem to think that getting hopelessly drunk and singing out of tune is the way to have a good time. It can also be packed with locals. You take your chances. You may prefer to reserve a table at the more formal restaurants on upper levels, or visit for lunch. Even if not planning to eat or drink here, take a peak inside and especially at the upper floors.
