Along the sentiero natura into splendid fir forest, the Monastero and Eremo di Camaldoli comprise the second of the important centers of spirituality in the region. It is split into sections, with the more isolated Eremo (hermitage, 1,111 m/3,644 feet), a two-mile walk along a mystical old monk path from the 16th-century monastery complex (814 m/2,670 feet). The 16th-century Monastero di Camaldoli is reached first.
