An historical resting point on the medieval road networks of Via Francigena and Via Volterrana, Gambassi Terme remains a well-favored retreat. The light tourist traffic splits between the salty thermal waters of the Sorgente Salsa and its shops selling glass products. If you’re interested, a permanent exhibition displays the town’s glassmaking past at a set of recently-excavated medieval kilns.
