From here, a right takes you to the wool-washer’s fountain outside the Porta dei Fonti, a large well house of 10 arches (a mix of 12th-century round and 14th-century pointed arches) and an impressive series of tubs originally used for public washing. Then Via delle Romite takes you back to the center via the grisly collection of medieval torture instruments in the Museo Criminale Medioevale.
