At the opening of the San Rossore canal, the 12,600-acre Tenuta di San Rossore can only be reached on foot, bicycle or by the park-run coach. It is open to the public every Sunday, on public holidays and for tours organized by the park agency. These tours (foot and bicycle) take place every Mon, Wed and Fri in summer (9:30-11:30 am, 2-4 pm), and every Tues and Thurs the rest of the year (9:30-11:30 am, 3:30-5:30 pm) by reservation with the Centro Visite Guidate di San Rossore. Tours on horseback can be organized with Fabio Tani (033-0778623/050-539247, fax 050-539234), and visits by horse and carriage with Federico and Antonio di Sacco (033-0206235/033-5713793).
