On the third floor is the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria which houses an important collection of 13th- to 18th-century Umbrian art, especially the detached frescoes, wooden crucifixes and tabernacles taken from churches and monasteries in the area. Prize possessions include a Madonna with Child and Angels by Duccio di Buoninsegna, a Madonna with Child by Gentile da Fabriano, an Annunciation by Beato Angelico and an Adoration of the Magi and a Pietà by Perugino. The collection also includes the sculptures taken from the Fontana Maggiore, including a Scribe and four other figures by Arnolfo di Cambio. The Cappella dei Priori has a late 15th-century fresco cycle by Benedetto Bonfigli, which represents scenes from the life of the city’s three patron saints and views of Perugia as it was then.
