Make your way to the medieval center of town where an 11th-century dome marks the site of the Cattedrale di SS Florido e Amanzio, itself constructed on the main temple from the original Roman settlement. Its present façade is divided into two parts: a lower Baroque design from 1632 and an upper Renaissance style added during later restructuring. Past its 13th-century campanile, the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo contains a rare collection of fifth- and sixth-century silver and gold works, including communion vessels, altarpieces and the Canoscio, a rare collection of Palaeo-Christian objects – among them 10 primitively decorated plates.
