Travelers who visit the basilica and neglect the other buildings in the Piazza del Santo miss some of Padua’s most precious fresco cycles. The admission fee is well worth paying to see late 14th-century frescoes by Altichiero da Zevio and Jacopo Avanzo in the Oratorio and Titian’s early 16th-century frescoes depicting the lives of St. George, St. Catherine and St. Lucy in the Scuola.
