The star-studded list of patrons includes everyone from former President Jimmy Carter to Ezra Pound and Brad Pitt, but you’d hardly notice any pretentious airs or stuffiness at this small restaurant open since the late 1800s. On a quiet canal in the Dorsoduro quarter, this family-operated locanda is a low-key eatery and a favorite among visitors who return for its warm atmosphere and remarkable classic dishes. The menu changes frequently, but if you see the filetto di branzino con pomodorini e olive (bass with tomatoes and olives) that’s a good bet. When the weather is nice, Montin’s best tables are on the terrace. Indoors, paintings by artists who once stayed here adorn the walls. In addition to the restaurant, there are 12 comfortable guest rooms upstairs.
