Ask almost any local in the zone who Ivan Pontarollo is and you might get the impression he’s a celebrity. This Bassano native has spent several decades immersed in the Valbrenta zone where he translated his passion for adventure river sports into a career by founding Ivan Team, one of the most respected adventure outfitters in northeastern Italy. With a variety of river sports championship titles under his belt, Pontarollo acts as a guide as well. Ivan Team offers participants a wide variety of activities from canoeing, rafting and hydrospeed to river trekking, bungee jumping and spelunking. They operate from April until October (the best season for river sports). Some activities are appropriate for children, including battello, a cruising raft that navigates the Brenta. Their locations include the river house, Casa sul Fiume in Solagna, and their headquarters at the Grotte di Oliero, where they operate boat trips to the caverns. Inquire about individual lessons and the Fly Day, River Day, Adrena Day and Crazy Day adventure programs that combine a variety of adventure activities. Participants are provided with activity-appropriate equipment, including wet suits and life jackets, but should come prepared with their own water shoes, bathing suits, towels and active clothing.
