Mora is the biggest city on Lake Siljan, with a population of about 20,000. Unlike most Swedish small towns, Mora is well-known throughout the country. The main reason is the ski race, Vasaloppet, which has its finish right in the city center. Next to the finish line, there is a statue of the former king who gave the race its name. The creator of the statue was Anders Zorn, one of the most famous Swedish artists, who was born here in Mora. Another thing that has put the city on the map is the Mora Knife, found in toolboxes in just about every household in the country.
