The Block is the world's first snowboarder hotel: owned and operated by and from snowboarders. THE BLOCK was founded by professional snowboarder Marc Frank Montoya and hotelier Liko Smith. THE BLOCK is located within stumbling distance of the casinos which include Harrah's Harvey, Bill's, Horizon and Mont Bleu. In addtion to being a block away from the Heavenly Village and Gondola, Kirkwood and Sierra-at-Tahoe resorts have shuttles that pick up at the hotel. Approximately 50 miles from the Reno Tahoe International Airport, THE BLOCK is easily accessible from the rental car or frequent shuttle service courtesy of South Tahoe Express. THE BLOCK is a modern day renaissance in high altitude accommodations. All the rooms include items like cordless phones, CD players, game consoles, board pegs, bike hooks and free wireless access. All rooms have a hip, "no frills" look. Other amenities include free Gift Bags, Microwavable Popcorn, internet terminals, waxing/tuning services in the winter and rooftop hot tub.
