Monticello was founded in 1980, and named for Thomas Jefferson’s home in Monticello, Virginia—a replica of which was built here in 1985and now houses the visitor center. The winery offers premium estate-grown Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from its 200 acres or so of planted vineyards located in the southern part of the valley. Monticello schedules wine-related events throughout the year, including cooking classes and seminars, and comparative tastings. Tasting and sales daily 10am-4.30pm; tours daily at 10.30 am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm. Fee for tasting.
