There are more than 21 miles of trails at the Seminole State Forest, including a 7½-mile stretch of the Florida Trail,(Florida Trail Association). Some legs are shared with horse folk. The 12,098-acre forest has many of the plants, trees and animals found throughout most of Central Florida, including scrub jays, black bears, flatwoods, sand pine scrubs and forest bottomlands. To get to the forest’s southern entrance, take US 441 from Hwy 50 in Orlando north about 12 miles to Apopka. Turn right (east) on Hwy 435, go nine miles to Hwy 46, turn right (east) and continue five miles to the entrance.
