With two of its own wines that are served, this Western bistro is located in the Stockyard district, and has won the admiration of some for having the nerve to not serve Chicken Fried Steak, a staple and favourite of the locale. Instead, Lonesome Dove serves sophisticated dishes with a real Southwestern flair, in an atmopshere that some have called "rustic Western chic." To cite just a couple of examples of the dishes offered, there is the grilled quail quesadilla, and the beef tenderloin stuffed with garlic and served with what chef Tim Love calls "Western plaid hash," comprised of "thin strips of red and green cabbage, red bell pepper, jalapeño and red onions in a Syrah wine sauce over shards of fried potatoes."
