Sölden
Sölden rocks with a party-hearty beat all winter – one that merely wanes during the summer months – and evenings feature après-ski in all its forms. Whether you like to dance on tables in ski boots or watch table-dancers wearing little more than that, Sölden entertains. Its ski slopes rise immediately above the town toward Hochsölden, the village’s high-altitude hamlet. The Tiefenbach and Rettenbach glaciers are connected to town by cableway and to each other via both road and ski tunnels. Glacier skiing is done year-round as conditions allow; access the glaciers by lift or via the toll road that runs the 15 km from town. (The €16.50 toll is waived if you’ve pre-purchased a ski pass.) Glacier runs here are more varied than most, boasting one fast run that each October stages the World Cup racing circuit’s season opener. Winter runs here total 149 km; summer glacier runs, considerably less.
