In October, Collobrières and La Garde Freinet celebrate their autumn chestnut harvest with Sunday Fairs. Collobrière’s Fête des Châtaignes takes place on the last three Sundays in October and includes a chestnut market, artists in the street and special events. Not far away, in La Garde Freinet, the Fête de la Châtaigne is held on the last two Sundays in October and includes all-day Provençal markets, and the opportunity to taste and buy chestnuts, marrons glacéscandied chestnuts, chestnut liqueur and roasted chestnuts. If you are lucky, you may get to participate in a great public feast, a grand aiöli, at the chestnut festivals.
