For 40 years, the Dorint-Sofitel Maison Messmer was the summer residence of Kaiser Wilhelm I. In 2001, the hotel reopened with a new wing to complement two historic buildings. It is a popular, luxury alternative to the other grand hotels in town and the closest to the Kurhaus. The J.B. Messmer restaurant serves international and nouvelle cuisine. The Theaterkeller is a more rustic wine cellar with regional specialties. Both restaurants are open for dinner only.
