The Schwarzwald-Hochstraße (Black Forest Crest Route)
One of the most popular drives in the Black Forest is along the Schwarzwald- Hochstraße (Crest Road) between Baden-Baden and Freudenstadt. The route mostly follows the B500, a major route from the Black Forest to the highways in the Rhine plains, and is usually busy with both commercial and holiday traffic. However, ample stopping points are available to safely enjoy the views. Driving the 36 miles takes about an hour, but plan on more than three hours if stopping en route at the listed sights and to take in the views.
