The Palmengarten (Palm/Tropical Gardens), is a huge park and botanical garden. It has the oldest botanical building in Europe–the 1869 Palm House. And then there are the more modern glass and steel houses that have plants from different climate zones. Whatever the season, there always seem to be flowers blooming in the garden. The Goethe Garden, with famous sayings by the poet, recently opened inside the park. A large children’s play area and open-air theater provides entertainment for all ages.
