Leányfalu, Tahitótfalu and Dunabogdány
The Pilis Mountains roll steeply down to the meandering Danube waters. They leave little room for habitation on the shore. Yet, only a few miles away lie the villages of Leányfalu, Tahitótfalu and Dunabogdány. Farther up the Danube embankment is the community of Tahitótfalu, the town split in two, half on the shore, and the other half on Szentendre island, connected by a bridge. On the island ancient memories weave the village history of Kisoroszi, Pócsmegyer, and Szigetmonostor, challenged by the newer villages of Surány and Horány, with their weekend cottages. Heading north on the shoreline through the small village of Dunabogdány we arrive at the historic Visegrad.
Leányfalu harbors several hotels and it is no accident because a hiking trail through the town leads to Visegrad, thus making it a perfect hikers’ (and mountain bikers’) stop after Szentendre.
