Colorado Ski Country

If Colorado is famous for one thing, it is its skiing. In fact, it is a place almost of pilgrimage for skiers of every stripe. Many of the state's famous ski area's lie largely to the west of Denver and are reached by way of the all-important and hugely scenic Interstate 70, which mounts a steady climb from mile-high Denver to Idaho Springs (elevation 7,524 ft.) to Georgetown (elevation 8,512 ft.) to the Eisenhower Tunnel, crossing over the Continental Divide. The roads are of course smooth and well maintained across the Divide to the Colorado ski resorts.
