As its names indicates, the Fremont Hotel and Casino sits right in the middle of the downtown Las Vegas action. And that means old- and new-fashioned gambling, great meal deals, reasonable room rates and the right-out-the-front-door excitement of the Fremont Street Experience, with its free live entertainment on weekends and nightly "Viva Vision," the 550,000-watt, overhead light and sound show. Of course, the Fremont has some famous lights of its own - the facade on the 50-year-old hotel has been featured in many a movie. The first high-rise downtown, today the building accommodates over 400 rooms, a 30,200-square-foot casino with more than 1,000 slots, a race and sports book with 30 televisions, a poker room and some popular dining options. The Fremont is home to Tony Roma's World Famous Ribs - of the chain's 150 restaurants nationwide, this is the No. 1 revenue producer! Also for big appetites, there is the Paradise Buffet and Café. For a more elegant dining experience, try a steak at the Second Street Grill, one of downtown's best-kept secrets.
