On the historic site of the Sands Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, Sheldon Adelson recreated the Italian city of Venice when he built the Venetian Resort, Hotel and Casino featuring famous landmarks, winding canals and authentic gondolas.
Behind the facade of the Doge's Palace, you'll find marble floors, hand-painted frescoes and plush furnishings surrounding a 120,000-square-foot casino modeled after the interior of a Venetian palazzo with 2,100 slot machines, 120 table games, a high-limit salon, race and sports book and a newly expanded baccarat venue with added privacy for VIPS.
There are more than 4,000 suites between the two towers, ranging in size from 650 square feet (almost two times larger than a standard hotel room) to the 6,000-plus-square-foot Chairman suite. (The Venetian holds the Guinness World Record for the "largest standard hotel room.") Amenities include private bedrooms, bathrooms finished in Italian marble, sunken living rooms, mini bars, dual-line phones with data port, and in-suite fax, copier and printer combos. Free daily newspaper delivery, shoeshine and turndown service are also offered. Inside the new 12-story Venezia Tower, the Concierge Level offers special pillow and bath selections , plasma TVs, DVD players, a DVD library and a Concierge Level Lounge.
For those anxious to cash in on the poker phenomenon, The Venetian's new poker room is being billed as one of the most posh in the world. At nearly 11,000 square feet, this luxurious poker room is decorated with leathers and woods and equipped with state-of-the-art technology, all in smoke-free environment. A separate high-stakes area offers butler service and gourmet dining. The room hosts more than 39 tables and a vast array of games suited to both the recreational poker player and the season veteran of the game.
Business travelers appreciate the direct connection to the 1.2 million-square-foot Sands Expo and Convention Center, as well as over 360.000 square-feet of function space available in the Venetian Congress Center.
But it's the lavish shopping, dining and entertainment options that keep travelers returning to the Strip's slice of the dolce vita.
The Grand Canal Shoppes feature such chic boutiques as Jimmy Choo, Dooney & Burke, Mikimoto and St. John Sport along cobblestone walkways. The Artisti Dell Arte - classically trained singers, actors and musicians from all over the world - perform beneath the sky of the Grand Canal's St. Mark's Square. Here you can catch a ride on authentic Italian gondolas navigated by an opera-singing gondolier.
The Venetian's award-winning restaurants include Delmonico Steakhouse, Piero Selvaggio Valentino, Wolfgang Puck's Postrio, Canaletto, Taqueria Canonita and Thomas Keller's Bouchon. Nightlife hotspots include the V Bar and the Tao Nightclub.
The Guggenheim Hermitage Museum, also known as the Jewel Box," was designed by Rem Koolhaas and offers new exhibits every six to nine months from the permanent collections of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York and The State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. For entertainment, don't miss Blue Man Group, Phantom of the Opera and the comedy of Wayne Brady.
