Just north of the Fortezza da Basso in the area known as Il Romito, Fratelli Briganti is so confident of its appeal that staff refuse to take reservations – if there are no free tables, you’ll just have to wait in line. It’s worth the wait; this relaxed and unaffected trattoria serves some of the cheapest, largest and most delicious helpings of pasta in town. If you’ve room for secondi, you’ll also get to sample the kinds of local dishes rarely found elsewhere in their original form (ossobuco, lombatina, trippa, tonno con fagioli), hence the solely local crowd.
