Bibione

Bibione

Bibione is situated at the eastern edge of the Veneto region. It is, to most Italians, “Spiaggia Tutta Spiaggia!” translated as "Beach All Beach!" The beach here runs eight kilometers along a sun-drenched, sandy peninsula, with the width ranging from 85 to 150 feet (250-450 m). And even though Bibione originally began as a Roman settlement in ancient times, it emerged as a beach resort just in the 1960s. Thus, it is perhaps the youngest of the beach towns in Veneto outside of Venice.

Bibione has yet another claim to fame: "Bibione Thermae," Bibione's full-fledged modern thermal center, constructed after thermal waters were discovered here in the 20th century. It draws health and wellness tourists from all over Europe, thus giving Bibione the added notoriety and label of health and spa resort.

Bibione now has more than a hundred hotels, scores of good restaurants, cafes, pubs, discos, nightclubs, and a full range of recreational facilities, including endless paths for walking and bicycling. Among seasonal events, Bibione hosts live concerts, fireworks over the sea, and a couple of hugely popular festivals: Septemberfest, which is centered around wine and grapes, and Festa dell'Asparago, which is essentially a celebration of Bibione asparagus.

Bibione has a population of about 12,000.
