Williams
Williams is notable as both “The Gateway to the Grand Canyon” and the terminus of the Grand Canyon Railway, the latter offering unique trips to the canyon, with strolling musicians and mock train robberies in the Old West tradition, and several hours of sightseeing at the canyon. There is also an historic district in Williams, and golfing, fishing and camping possibilities, as well as a ski area just outside town for winter recreation. The town is located at the junction of Highway 64 and historic Route 66, roughly 55 miles south of the canyon.
