Cherry Creek North and Highlands

Cherry Creek NorthCherry Creek North is one of Denver’s premier shopping centers, located just to the southeast of the core Downtown area. It is a hard-to-miss, 16-block complex with a village atmosphere, built around the Fillmore Plaza, housing some 350 chic boutiques, shops, galleries, restaurants and cafés, many of them spilling over onto the sidewalks. This is also the site of the annual Cherry Creek Arts Festival, and home to the palatial Fillmore Auditorium where an assortment of live performances is scheduled throughout the year.HighlandsHighlands is the area west of Interstate 25, overlooking Downtown, and largely centered around 32nd Street and Lowell Boulevard. And this, too, is an historic part of Denver, with varied ethnic roots that include Italian, Irish, German and Mexican immigrants. The neighborhood is characteristic in its rows of quaint Victorian homes and surprisingly distinctive churches, dotted along tree-lined streets, as well as a pleasant mix of shops, boutiques, cafés and bistros, many of them tucked away on side streets. Highlights of any visit to the Highlands include the West 28th Avenue Historic Distict and Potter’s Row.Old South Gaylord and Old South PearlThe adjacent neighborhoods, located some four block east of Washington Park and between Evans Avenue and Interstate 25, respectively, exude a community charm through their lively jumble of shops and restaurants. Of note here are the weekly South Pearl Street Farmers Market and annual sidewalk sales, which only add to the flavor of the districts. Also, the festive Winterfest is held here every year.
