Exploring the Gallery
Room 15 is dedicated to Verrocchio and pupils Perugino, including a beautiful Madonna Enthroned with Child (1493), and Leonardo da Vinci. Works by the latter in his formative years include a Baptism of Christ (1470-75) worked on by himself and Verrocchio, a spectacular Annunciation (1472-75) and an unfinished Adoration of the Magi (1481-82). Later works by Perugino, along with those of Signorelli, can be seen in Room 19.
There's a bit of a break in Room 16, the Map Room, which has a display of charts depicting the state of Florence under Grand Dukes Francesco I and Ferdinando I. In Room 20 you’ll find works by Dürer and German artists (Lukas Cranach the Elder, Hans Baldung Grien and Hans Suss von Kulmbach) before Giambellino and Giorgione in Room 21 (as well as Giovanni Bellini’s Sacred Allegory and The Lamentation over the Dead Christ, around 1495), and Flemish and German Painting in Room 22. Room 24 features the famous Medici collection of miniature portraits assembled by Grand Duke Cosimo I around 1550.
