Exploring the Gallery
Rooms 29 and 30 feature artists from the Emilian School (Dosso Dossi, Garofalo, Mazzolino and Parmigianino – his famous Madonna with the Long Neck dates from around 1540). Venice and the Veneto (Moroni, Jacopo Tintoretto and Paolo Veronese, including a splendidly understated Martyrdom of St Justine, 1573) can be found in Rooms 31-32. Rubens and Van Dyck appear in Room 41 (with Rubens’ Triumphal Entry of Henry IV into Paris, 1625). Caravaggio is in Room 43 (The Sacrifice of Isaac, Bacchus and, in temporary exhibition, Medusa) and some of Rembrandt's best portraits, including his splendidly morose Self-Portrait of an Old Man in Room 44. Room 45 introduces the 18th century.
